A rugged polymer optical fibre with a black protective jacket available in single (Order Code XR56L) and twin (Order Code N65CF) versions designed for data transmission. It may be bent and handled in the same way as insulated wires without damage. Ideal for use in equipment to provide several light sources possibly in confined spaces from a single lamp some distance away, it is optimised for red light at 660nm but will work over shorter distances with a wide range of colours. It can also be used as a light guide to transfer light from one point to another. The fibre is supplied with rough cut ends and should be cleanly sliced off using a a very sharp knife or heated blade. Light transmission can be increased by typically 33% by polishing the ends of the fibre after cutting.
